How are you engaging with others while practicing social distancing and staying at home?
We want to hear from YOU!
Pick up your phone, turn on video recording, and follow these 3 simple steps!
Step 1: Introduce Yourself
Tell us who you are and how you’re connected to the Welcoming Center! Speak any language you want!
“Hi everyone, I’m Al and I’m a Welcoming Center participant!”
“Hi! My name is Jen and I work at the Welcoming Center!”
“Hello everyone, I am Lu and I’m a Welcoming Center volunteer!”
“Hey there! My name is Em and I’m a Welcoming Center supporter!”
Step 2: Tell Us What You're Doing
Describe ONE thing you are doing right now to stay engaged while you practice social distancing.
“My elderly neighbor has limited access to the internet. I have been calling her every other day so we can catch up. She has taught me a lot about gardening and with her advice, I have planted some herbs!”
“I am taking part in a weekly video lunch hour with my colleagues so we can all talk to each other and de-stress!”
“I started teaching taekwondo to my friends over video call. This gives us all a chance to stay connected while learning something new!”
“My family lives on the other side of the world and we don’t normally get the chance to talk to each other often. Now, we have Zoom calls everyday so that we can stay up to date with how everyone is doing.”
Step 3: Share Your Video
Share your post with the hashtag #HowIAmEngaging!
Tag your friends and challenge them to share their stories!
Make sure your post is set to public.
If you do not have a social media account, you can email your story to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will share it on your behalf.
